About me
Hi, I’m Ekkarat Ritthiplang, but everyone calls me Tiger. With over a decade of experience, I advise multinational companies on corporate transactions, M&A, and regulatory compliance in Thailand. My expertise spans industries such as automotive, manufacturing, transportation, and hospitality, where I help businesses navigate complex legal challenges—from investment structuring to licensing and labor law compliance. Like my co-authors, I am a partner at the international business law firm Blumenthal Richter & Sumet (BRS) in Bangkok, Thailand.
As a Thai national, I have an in-depth understanding of both the legal framework and the realities of doing business in Thailand. I regularly work with government authorities, including the Board of Investment, Ministry of Industry, Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, Office of Insurance Commission, Office of the Consumer Protection Board, and the Ministry of Commerce, assisting clients in overcoming regulatory hurdles and leveraging investment promotion schemes. My experience includes securing mandatory licenses and approvals, facilitating business takeovers and restructurings, and ensuring compliance with sector-specific regulations. Recently, I have focused on assisting clients in expanding their businesses internationally, particularly to other parts of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Laos, by leveraging our strong partnerships with reputable law firms in each respective country.
On this blog, I write about updates in Thai law that may be relevant to businesses, as well as other topics within Thai law that interest me—particularly those that I feel don’t receive enough attention or where I look forward to engaging in further discussions. To connect with my Thai colleagues, I will also occasionally publish articles in Thai.
Beyond the legal world, I have a strong passion for pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. My ultimate aspiration is to become a semi-professional player someday and, if time allows, travel the world competing in international tournaments. I am an outgoing person who enjoys exploring new places and connecting with new people. This blog serves as an excellent platform for me to share my personal and professional journey, insights, and experiences, with the goal of connecting with like-minded individuals and offering value to the audience in one way or another.
